The growth of the Santos 29er category is unstoppable... Well, almost.
Now even more user friendly with Firmtech brakes and Rohloff Speedhub!

As any mountainbiker knows, the popularity of 29ers is still growing every day and this is certainly the case for the Santos 4.29. We keep hearing it from anyone who has taken it out for a spin: 'What a comfortable ride!'. This can partially be explained by those few inches more wheel diameter, which enable you to ride more easily over larger obstacles and make the bike more stable in a straight line. But especially with a mountainbike you also want to attack corners and this is exactly what makes the 4.29 stand out even more...

That's because we've taken the Santos SCC03, well known for its cornering abilities, as a starting point. And we believe the growth of the 29er category has only just begun, even more reason for us to take the range a few steps further. For starters with an even more user friendly version with Firmtech brakes (the very first 29er equipped with those!) and a Rohloff Speedhub...

HS33 Firmtech brakes are well known for their unique combination of features (very light, low maintenance, impressive stopping power), but especially on a 29er they also have a vey nice cosmetic side effect: such a large wheel with fat tire really looks good 'naked'! This goes for the rear wheel as well, with courtesy of the Rohloff Speedhub, with ideal gear ratios for a 29er bike. The version with derailer and disc brakes also remains available in the Santos 4.29 delivery programme. Both setups help you become a better biker and of course both are available in all 24 Santos colors and 4 different sizes.

Makes you wonder why the whole mountainbike world has rolled on 26" wheels for about three decades then, doesn't it? In fact, there's a very simple explanation for that: the predecessors of mountainbikes, stripped single speed American cruiser bikes (which were initially only used in California to go downhill as fast as possible), all came with 26" balloon tires, which were the best tires available at the time. And it's because of these so-called 'Klunkers' that 26" became the MTB standard for 30 years! Of course 26" still has its own advantages, but times (and insights) change, that's for sure... Take a 4.29 out for a test ride and see for yourself!
